Interstate Blood Bank Biologics Materials Specialist in Vista, California

This is an in-person only position based out of Vista, CA.

Summary:

The Biologics Materials Specialist will oversee the planning, control and distribution of materials and products according to company needs and customer requirements. This position is in the Operations department and reports to the operations manager.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Directs inventory control and biologics requirements, including but no limited to TORCH, infections markers, thyroglobulin, autoimmune, coagulant, and red blood cell.

  • Maintains inventory levels to ensure deliveries occur within customer timelines using searches of the inventory data base.

  • Maintains and ensures accuracy of the perpetual inventory system by analyte.

  • Works with commercial team to align available material to customers’ needs using forecasting tools, inventory.

  • Oversees functions related to purchased biologics.

  • Follows procedures for conducting and valuing year-end physical inventory.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

  • Analyze customer requests vs available inventory to maximize value generation for the business unit

  • Collaborate with Associate Director, Donor Centers Operations and Director RUO Laboratory to define donor and inventory screening strategy to identify valuable donors/ units

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Excellent organizational and planning skills.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the proven ability to work well with all levels of management and staff.

  • Proficient with inventory reporting systems.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.

  • FileMaker knowledge desirable.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Life Science with focus in Biology, or similar.

  • 3-4 years of experience in IVD field in R&D; assay technical support or any related technical role with strong focus in the area of Infectious Disease, Autoimmune or Clinical Chemistry

  • Depending on the area of assignment, directly related experience or a combination of directly related education and experience and/or competencies may be considered in place of the stated requirements. Example: If a job level requires a bachelor’s degree plus 4 years of experience, an equivalency could include 8 years of experience, an Associate’s degree with 6 years of experience, or a Master’s degree with 2 years of experience.

Occupational Demands: Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds at a time.

Pay scale of $66,560.00 - $94,411.55 per year for California residents, depending on training, education and experience. This position is eligible to participate in up to 5% of the company bonus pool. We offer benefits including medical, PTO, up to 5% 401K match, and tuition reimbursement.
